VISION : By 2027, we will fulfill our mission through exceptional program design, organisational alignment, and targeted training, establishing ourselves as Chennai's leading K-12 school focused on leadership development.
MISSION : Our mission is to cultivate curiosity, empathy, and collaboration in learners, empowering them to grow into mindful, inclusive leaders who are committed to making a positive impact on society.
PURPOSE : For a sustainable world, our society requires the right kinds of leaders. Through our service, we wish to increase the number of leaders who will produce a just, safe, inclusive and equitable world.
Our story begins with the passionate vision of Mrs. Sudha Mahesh and Mr. C.N.U Maheswaran, who founded Headstart Nursery and Primary School on January 20th, 1995. VECT, the Trust, established on April 1st, 1997, provided a strong foundation. Mrs. Mahesh, a Changemaker Educator, faced challenges with unwavering perseverance, leaving an indelible mark before her transition on August 28th, 2024. Her spirit of resilience inspired Mr. Naveen Mahesh, her son, who stepped into the role of Managing Trustee in 2005 and Mrs. Raaji Naveen, demonstrated extraordinary perseverance by founding HLC International in a new campus in Karanai in 2009, and proved that passion and dedication can overcome any obstacle.

HLC International School wishes to clarify that we are not affiliated or associated with any other institution or organization using the term "headstart."
The term "headstart" originates from a groundbreaking educational program developed by Peabody College at Vanderbilt University, USA, which aimed to foster equitable access to education for young learners. This term holds historical and educational significance and represents an inclusive vision for early learning.
As India’s first Ashoka Changemaker School, HLC International School remains committed to creating transformative educational experiences that empower students to make a meaningful impact in the world. Our identity, values, and practices are uniquely our own and distinct from any other school or institution.
